Murray Goulburn Co-operative has used Tetra Pak’s aseptic technology to create a new long-life specialist

milk line for Australia’s booming café industry.

Devondale Barista’s Own brand, in 2 litre Tetra Brik Aseptic cartons, offers cafés a shelf stable-alternative, for about the same cost as pasteurized milk.

Barista’s Own is high-foaming performance milk - and delivers consistently all year round compared to the pasteurized alternatives, which can vary with the seasons.

Tetra Pak’s UHT (ultra high-temperature treatment) technology delivers milk, which will maintain its quality for up to nine months, in storage, without refrigeration. Unlike pasteurized milk, Barista’s Own requires no refrigeration until a carton is opened.

Independent blind taste comparisons between Barista’s Own and a range of pasteurized and UHT milks, carried out by Focus Strategic Development - under the guidance of former World Barista Judges chairman Justin Metcalf.

These showed that, among both café operators and consumers, Barista’s Own 2 percent fat milk was equal to fresh full cream milk for texture, taste and appearance.
